Our Team
Rani Banjarian is an educator by profession and data professional by training. Based in Nashville, TN, he is a licensed mathematics educator with a Master of Science in Business Analytics from College of William & Mary (W&M) in Williamsburg VA. He has extensive experience in K-12 consulting, primarily supporting US school districts in data-informed and student-centered instructional design and implementation (personalized and blended learning). He is also a co-founder of Data Scientist Jr. In his current role as an educator, he has developed and implemented High School Math RTI (Response to Intervention) systems at scale, and in his instructional capacity works with students with exceptional needs and students who are learning English as a second language.
Danielle Seay is a rising senior double majoring in Art and English at William & Mary. She currently works as a Student Marketing Assistant at The Office of Career Development and Professional Engagement creating unique designs, posters, and logos to market events to students at William & Mary. She is also a freelance artist specializing in digital design work, creating graphics for stickers, T-shirts, and posters. Danielle’s work has been featured in promotional materials for Office of Career Development and Professional Engagement, as well as in an exhibition at the Stryker Center gallery, the President’s collection at William & Mary, a literary and arts magazine called The Gallery, as well as the Flat Hat Magazine. Danielle is very passionate about creating energetic, colorful, and eye-catching designs that help make a story come alive. She is incredibly passionate about this project and excited to share her work!
Dr. Tingting (Rachel) Chung is an award-winning professor of Business Analytics at W&M, with teaching focus on AI, machine learning, and data analytics. Dr. Chung is also mother of Connor (the older brother in the book) who resides in Pittsburgh and currently serves as a member of Junior Team USA Karate! Previously trained as a developmental psychologist, Dr. Chung loves the parallels between AI and child development, and co-founded Data Scientist Jr. with former student Rani and sister Peggy to introduce AI and data science to all children. Dr. Chung has won multiple Faculty Excellence Awards at W&M, and an IBM Faculty Award in Cognitive Computing. She also served as Grant Awards judge for the 2012, 2015, and 2018 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Prior to joining W&M, Dr. Chung founded the data science major at Chatham University in Pittsburgh PA.
Peggy Chung is a data-management and child-education enthusiast and believes that mastering data is a critical twenty-first-century skill. She is mother of Atena (the younger sister in the book), and Dr. Chung's sister! With a Master of Information System Management from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Master of Statistics from University of Pittsburgh, Peggy has designed and taught the Data Scientist Jr. curriculum in Taiwan, Italy, and Singapore. As a Certified instructor of Dash and Dot robotics, Peggy has taught robotics, programming, and computational thinking to K-12 students. Peggy's professional experience includes data analysis at Dr. Jeff Cohn's AI facial expression recognition lab, project management of multimedia management systems, and digitalization consulting.
Alisa Yang is a rising senior double majoring in Data Science and Business Analytics with a concentration in Marketing at William & Mary. She worked for an export trading company in China last summer as a Marketing Data Analyst Intern and recently served as a Marketing Strategy Intern for an NGO. Seeking to utilize Data Science for the better social good, she is deeply interested in the education technology industry. Her passion for photography and digital art enhances her ability to craft compelling marketing strategies. Collaborating closely with authors, she will develop and implement marketing campaigns, particularly targeting the start of the academic year. Her efforts include creating engaging social media content, conducting outreach initiatives, and optimizing marketing performance to ensure the book's successful launch and a positive impact on children's education and understanding of AI.
